Tsarnaev pal's jury to begin 2nd day deliberating

BOSTON (AP) A federal jury is set to begin its second day of deliberations in the obstruction of justice trial of a friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehv).

Azamat Tazhayakov (AZ'-maht tuh-ZAY'-uh-kahv) is accused of agreeing with another friend to try to protect Tsarnaev during the bombing investigation by removing items from his dorm room and also is charged with conspiracy.

The jury began deliberating Wednesday after hearing closing arguments from prosecutors and Tazhayakov's lawyer. Deliberations are scheduled to resume Thursday morning.

Prosecutors told the jury Tazhayakov and another friend removed a backpack containing manipulated fireworks from Tsarnaev's room hours after the FBI released images of Tsarnaev and his brother as suspects in the 2013 marathon attack, which killed three people.

The defendants have pleaded not guilty.
