Motorcyclist killed in Defiance crash

Gary Saylor, 58, of Defiance, Ohio was killed Tuesday evening when a Ford Escape driven by 18-year-old Brittany Bird of Ney, Ohio, struck his motorcycle, police say.

The Defiance post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that at 9 p.m., Bird was driving on State Route 15 when she traveled off the roadway, overcorrected and went left of center, striking Saylor's motorcycle.

Saylor, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene. Bird, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt, according to the police.

Police say the road was closed for two hours. The crash is under investigation.
