Carbaugh named to national legislative committee

Republican Fort Wayne Rep. Martin Carbaugh was named to the executive committee of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators.

The group serves to help state lawmakers make more informed decisions on insurance issues affecting their constituents. The organization also serves as the voice of state legislators in Washington in regards to federal proposals influencing state insurance regulation.

?"It is great to see that my experience in the insurance and financial services industries and the knowledge I have gained as the Vice Chair of the House Committee on Insurance have provided me the opportunity to better serve my constituents on the executive committee of NCOIL,"? Carbaugh said. "?I am excited to see what ideas I can bring to the discussion as well as the insight I will gain from state legislators across the country."

The group convenes three times each year to discuss current insurance policy issues, to hear from consumers and the insurance industry and to hold committee meetings. This national organization also works to speak out on congressional initiatives that attempt to intrude upon a state?'s authority for insurance.

Other Indiana representatives on the executive committee include Sen. Travis Holdman, R-Markle, and Rep. Matt Lehman, R-Berne.
