Woodburn storage facility promises to create 75 jobs

Officials on Friday gathered to kick off the construction of a $12.1 million Woodburn storage facility that promises to create 75 jobs in coming years.

North American Cold Storage will build a 96,000-square-foot public refrigerated warehouse at 23202 Roemer Drive. The company expects to invest $28.1 million in equipment and related upgrades over the the next several years.

“We are very pleased with the attention we’ve received from the state of Indiana and the City of Woodburn during our buying process,” Scott Parker, partner of North American Cold Storage, said in a statement. “With the new Highway 24, it’s not only the perfect location for exposure but it also allows us the possibilities to expand even more.”

North American's new facility will be equipped with a state‐of‐the‐art warehouse management system, radio‐frequency barcode scanning, electronic data interchange, energy management, including variable frequency drives, and high bay LED lighting.
