2 people, 2 dogs rescued from boat in Lake Erie

– The Coast Guard has rescued two people and two dogs from a sinking vessel in Lake Erie.

The Coast Guard in Cleveland says a 33-foot recreational boat hit a rocky bottom on Sunday and began taking on water.

The Blade of Toledo reports that Coast Guard crews in Marblehead and Port Clinton responded soon after and got the people and dogs off the sinking vessel.

The responders, which included a commercial salvage vessel, successfully removed water from the boat by using three pumps and towed it into a Marblehead marina.

There were no reports of injuries or signs of pollution.
