Lloyd, TinCaps smother Beloit, win series

Kyle Lloyd pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning and Fernando Perez drove in four runs as the TinCaps cruised past Beloit 6-1 on Friday night at Parkview Field.

The TinCaps (43-59, 13-20) took two out of three in their only series this year against the Snappers (40-63, 10-23).

Perez hit an RBI double in the first, a solo home run in the third and a two-run single in the sixth. He finished 3 for 4 with a walk.

Fort Wayne's other runs came courtesy of a Henry Charles RBI groundout in the second and a Jake Bauers RBI single in the eighth.

Pitching has been the real strength of the team during an 8-4 stretch over the past 12 games, and Lloyd (4-4) certainly carried on the momentum, striking out seven and allowing four hits in 5 2/3 innings.

The TinCaps begin a three-game series against Wisconsin on Saturday at Parkview Field.
