FORT WAYNE – The residents of a south-side home escaped an early-morning house fire today that caused significant damage, firefighters said.
At 2 a.m. Friday, firefighters were called to a two-story home at 5115 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne Battalion Chief William Endorf said.
Crews found flames coming out of the roof and all of the occupants safely outside, according to a statement.
When firefighters entered the home, they found the second floor and the attic on fire, Endorf said.
Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 20 minutes, but the home still sustained heavy smoke and water damage.
There was no report of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
