5 arrested in drug probe at motel

Two Michigan men and three others were arrested Friday in connection with heroin trafficking at a Fort Wayne motel, police said.

When police arrived at Motel 6 at 3003 Coliseum Blvd. W., they arrested Kijuan Adams, 35, of Battle Creek in the parking lot on an arrest warrant charging him with five counts of dealing heroin.

Police said they found drug paraphernalia on him.

Investigators saw Adams leave a room at the nearby Knights Inn at 2901 Goshen Road and when they knocked on the door, they immediately smelled burning marijuana, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Officers removed three people from the room and got a search warrant, which turned up small amounts of marijuana and synthetic marijuana, along with 9.3 grams of heroin, police said.

A search of another room involved yielded a little more than 2 ounces of synthetic marijuana and a loaded handgun.

In addition to Adams’ arrest, police arrested Mario L.E. Burton, 33, of Battle Creek, on warrants for probation violation and non-support of a child, police said.

The three others from the room were arrested on misdemeanor charges of visiting a common nuisance.
