Advancement, tenure

The Board of Regents of Concordia Theological Seminary, 6600 N. Clinton St., has advanced the Rev. Dr. Walter A. Maier III from associate professor to professor. Tenure was granted to the Rev. Dr. John G. Nordling and the Rev. Professor John T. Pless on the faculty.

Anniversary celebration

Haven Missionary Christian Church, 845 W. Creighton Ave., will observe its 23rd anniversary at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday also 3 p.m. Aug. 17. Guest speakers include Keith Reynolds of Fairhaven Mennonite Church, E.C. Haywood of Greater Christ Temple Church of God in Christ and Eileen Thomas of Gomez Temple AME Church. The Rev. Dr. Wyatt Mullinax of Westview Alliance Church will speak Aug. 17.

Neighborhood party

Bethany Lutheran Church, 2435 Engle Road, will host a neighborhood block party from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The event includes food and games. For information, call 747-0713.
