ELMORE, Ohio – A 14-year-old girl was killed when the SUV she was riding in crashed in northwest Ohio, the State Highway Patrol said today.
A release from the patrol said the SUV’s 18-year-old driver received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released. Troopers said the teenage girl was thrown from the vehicle when it ran off the road and overturned several times shortly after 1 a.m. today. The patrol didn’t immediately identify the girl.
Troopers said the SUV was westbound on Ohio 105 when the crash occurred in Ottawa County near Elmore. The patrol said the driver said he fell asleep.
Troopers said alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The road was closed for about four hours.
