CBS switching Indianapolis affiliate

INDIANAPOLIS – CBS Corp. said Indianapolis television station WISH-TV is losing its affiliation with the network after nearly six decades.

CBS and Tribune Broadcasting announced Monday that the CBS affiliate serving the Indianapolis area will switch on Jan. 1, 2015, from LIN Media’s WISH-TV, which also owns WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, to WTTV.

The Indianapolis Business Journal reported (http://bit.ly/1vy1aFa ) that WISH-TV has been the Indianapolis affiliate for CBS since 1956.

The switch means WTTV will become the Indianapolis Colts’ new home station in January, and also will begin broadcasting other live sports, including NCAA football and basketball games.

CBS’ agreement with Tribune Broadcasting also includes early renewals for Tribune Media-owned CBS affiliates in Memphis, Tennessee; Huntsville, Alabama; and Fort Smith, Arkansas, as well as a renewal for a station in Richmond, Virginia.
