K's sign 2 rookies; preseason roster reaches 16

Rookie defenseman Ian Barteaux and forward Eric Faille have signed with the Komets, the team announced today.

Barteaux, 26, of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, played college hockey at the University of Alberta.

Faille, 25, of Lachine, Quebec, played at the University of Moncton.

Komets Coach Gary Graham "worked very hard this summer recruiting Barteaux and Faille," general manager David Franke said in a statement. "Gary's persistence paid off with their signings.

"Barteaux will give us not only solid defense but will contribute offensively to our attack. He had a very good junior and college career. He also plays an aggressive physical game."

Faille also had a very successful college career, Franke said.

"He will be looked upon to provide offense and solid two-way play. He is a very talented player and will be given every chance to be a major contributor to the team."

Fort Wayne now has 16 players signed -- 10 forwards, five defensemen and a goalie.
