Mislabeled burrito products recalled
The Journal Gazette
Request Foods Inc. of Holland, Mich., has recalled more than 30,000 pounds of burrito products because of misbranding and undeclared allergens, the Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
The products are mislabeled as a chicken with cheese and bean burrito, but contain an egg and sausage burrito product, the service said in a statement. It said the product contains egg and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label.
The frozen burrito items were produced on Dec. 19, 2016, the statement said. They are 6 oz. plastic packages containing “ATKINS CHICKEN WITH CHEESE AND BEAN BURRITO” with a “Best By” date of Dec. 19, 2017.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-17644” inside the USDA mark of inspection, the statement said. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
The problem was discovered after the company received a consumer complaint, the statement said. It said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions because of consumption of these products.
Consumers who have purchased these products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Those with questions about the recall can contact Consumer Affairs at (844) 342-3400.
