FORT WAYNE, IND. - Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana has been awarded a $35,000 grant by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne. These funds help support Cancer Services' Client Advocate Program and Client Services Program.
The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne grant will provide financial assistance, practical resources and emotional support to people in our community who have cancer. This grant will prevent families who already have to deal with the challenges of a life threatening illness from also having to face a crisis such as homelessness. The program provides comprehensive support to reduce the financial and emotional stress that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
"The mission of the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is to improve the quality of life for all residents in Allen County. Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana feeds into that mission by providing supplies, financial assistance and support during the most challenging trials of cancer," said David Bennett, Executive Director of the Community Foundation.
Cancer Services served more than 2,900 clients in 11 Northeast Indiana counties in 2016.
"We are all touched by cancer in one way or another," said Dianne May, President and CEO of Cancer Services. "The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne's grant is not only an investment that will benefit cancer patients, it will strengthen our community as a whole."
