The Journal Gazette

The Kroger Co.’s Central Division officially kicked off its 39th annual Fight Cancer Day fundraising initiative Monday at the Kroger Marketplace on Dupont Road in Fort Wayne.

Kroger will donate 3 percent of all sales across 15 area stores Wednesday to ACS, Cancer Services and Francine’s Friends. In addition, Kroger customers will be invited to contribute to the local cancer organizations by donating cash in increments of $1, $3 or $5 through Oct.  31. There is no limit to the total amount a customer can contribute.

Proceeds raised from Kroger Fight Cancer Day 2016 were approximately $83,000, bringing the total raised in the event’s 38-year history to more than $4.9 million. Once again, volunteers from ACS, Cancer Services and Francine’s Friends, many of whom are cancer survivors, will be working in stores across the region in support of the event.
