The Fort Wayne Fire Department issued this news release today:
Fire Chief Eric Lahey has announced the opening of the recruit firefighter application process. The Fort Wayne Fire Department wants to fill 21 firefighter position vacancies with its 90th recruit class. Applications will be accepted from now until 5:00 p.m. on November 6, 2017. Applications and additional information on the hiring process can be found on the Fort Wayne Fire Department website www.fortwaynefiredpartment.org under the Career Opportunities tab or on the City of Fort Wayne website www.cityoffortwayne.org under the Employment tab.
“Public safety is a critical component to Fort Wayne being a successful city,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “I'm appreciative that we're in position to have another academy class for the Fort Wayne Fire Department. It demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent services to keep residents and businesses as safe as possible.”
Applicants must be 21 years old by the time the application process closes and less than 36 years old at the time of graduation from the recruit fire academy on September 28, 2018.
