  • Cathie Rowand | The Journal Gazette The city's new river maintenance barge takes its first trip through downtown Monday. The barge, operated by the Parks and Recreation Department staff, floated on sections of the St. Marys and St. Joseph rivers to make sure everything is working properly before it is put into winter storage. Next year, as the city's riverfront development advances, the barge will be used to remove logs and debris from waterways.
