Pier 1 Imports recalls decorative glass pumpkins

The Journal Gazette

Pier 1 Imports of Fort Worth, Texas, has recalled about 17,000 glass pumpkins with wooden stems that can detach when picked up, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said today.

That can cause the pumpkin's base to fall, break and pose a laceration hazard, the commission said in a statement. It said Pier 1 Imports has received seven reports of the detaching; one incident required stitches.

The pumpkins were sold at Pier 1 Imports stores and online at www.Pier1.com from June through November. The small glass pumpkin was about $25 and the medium glass pumpkin was about $30.

Consumers should stop using the pumpkins and return them to a Pier 1 Imports store for a refund or merchandise credit, the statement said.
