Saint Francis QB wins NAIA Player of Year

Saint Francis senior quarterback Nick Ferrer won the NAIA Player of the Year on Friday at a banquet in Daytona Beach, Florida. 

The No. 1 and defending Cougars (13-0) play No. 2 Reinhardt of Georgia (12-0) in the NAIA championship game at 6 p.m. today. 

Ferrer has thrown for a school-record 3,925 yards and 38 touchdowns this season and ranks No. 3 in the NAIA in passing efficiency (173.8) and No. 8 in passing yards per game (301.9). 

He ranks No. 4 all-time in passing yards with 12,265 and can move into third place with 89 yards today. 

Ferrer won the award over 10 other candidates around the nation, including Reinhardt junior defensive lineman Tevin McCoy. 

Also, Saint Francis running back Justin Green and linebacker Piercen Harnish were named first team NAIA All-American by the Associated Press on Friday.

The Cougars' opponent today in the NAIA title game, Reinhardt (Ga), had three players chosen as All-Americans in offensive linemen Trey Coney and Xavier Carter and McCoy.
