The Journal Gazette

A knife-wielding robber struck this morning at a Warsaw convenience store, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, Warsaw police said.

Police said they were called to Freedom Express, 801 E. Center St., at 10:24 a.m. on a report that the store had been robbed.

The robber approached the clerk and displayed the knife, police said. They said the clerk emptied the cash from the register, and the robber forced the clerk into the cooler before fleeing.

The robber was described as a male wearing a black leather jacket with a white stripe on the sleeves, blue jeans and blue-and-white shoes, police said. His face was covered by a black-and-white Jack Daniels bandana and sunglasses.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the robber, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Warsaw police detectives at 574-372-9540.
