Ohio sees decrease in OVI-related crashes
The Journal Gazette
Ohio's operating vehicles while impaired crashes decreased in 2017, according to the State Highway Patrol.
OVI-related crashes accounted for 34 percent of fatal crashes in 2017, a decrease from 2016, the highway patrol said in a statement.
Of those OVI crashes, 52 percent of the drivers were ages 21 to 39; 71 percent of them were male.
State troopers from the Defiance Post arrested 207 impaired drivers last year, police said, and troopers are continuing to focus on impaired driving enforcement. Anyone who sees an impaired driver, drug activity or stranded motorists, is asked to call #677.
