The family of a man found shot to death in an alley came forward to identify him after personal details were published in local news, the Allen County coroner’s office said Wednesday.
Donta L. Grundy, 27, was found Sunday afternoon lying in an alley in the 1500 block of Oxford Street near the Euell A. Wilson Center.
It was unclear how long his body had been there, though neighbors said that they heard noises that sounded like gunshots about 3 a.m. Sunday.
Grundy died from multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner’s office said. He is the county’s 21st homicide victim.
The coroner’s office struggled to identify Grundy, but his family contacted the office after it released details describing him.
Grundy was discovered by a motorist who called 911, police said.
