A man who died after he was beaten on U.S. 30 during rush hour Wednesday was identified today as Orlando Fernandez, 60, of Fort Wayne.
Fernandez was involved in an altercation with another driver on eastbound U.S. 30 at the U.S. 33 exchange, Fort Wayne police said Wednesday.
Both men stopped along the highway around 5:30 p.m. The other man got out of his vehicle and went over to Fernandez' vehicle and beat him, police said.
Fernandez complained of chest pain and went into cardiopulmonary arrest, the Allen County coroner said.
Fernandez died of cardiopulmonary arrest due to coronary atherosclerosis heart disease and his death was ruled a homicide, the coroner said.
Fernandez is the 30th homicide in Allen County for this year.
