Dylan Sinn | The Journal Gazette
Hello to all Hoosier basketball fans and loyal readers of Eyeing IU. My name is Dylan Sinn and as of Jan. 26, I am the new Indiana basketball beat writer for the Journal Gazette. I will be running this blog from now on, an assignment I am excited to tackle. I am also covering Notre Dame football and TinCaps baseball.
A little about me: I grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and am a graduate of Indiana University. At IU I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and attended dozens of basketball games as a fan. My days as a fan of the Indiana basketball program are behind me, however, and I will be completely objective about the team, as I know our readers demand it. I graduated from IU in 2015 and in 2016 began pursuing a master's degree at the University of Maryland. I graduated from there in 2017 and although I enjoyed the East Coast, I am thrilled to be living in the Midwest again.
In addition to my time as a fan of the Indiana basketball program, I arrive at the Journal Gazette with some experience with the team in a journalistic capacity. From 2014 until very recently I covered the Hoosiers for Peegs.com, recapping games and becoming familiar with the program. I've been covering Indiana for so long I remember when the press area was behind the basket instead of in the upper reaches of Assembly Hall.
My first game covering Indiana for the Journal Gazette will be Sunday's matchup with Purdue. Our esteemed sports editor, Mark Jaworski, purposely chose a low-key game so I could ease into the job. I'm looking forward to interacting with the readers of this blog and I am active on Twitter, @DylanSinn. I welcome all questions, comments, complaints and shouting about my incompetence as a journalist. I will do my best to respond to all of your tweets.
I'm looking forward to getting started here and, as always, thank you for reading Eyeing IU and the Journal Gazette.
