Former Hoosier Williams signs with Pelicans
Former Indiana forward Troy Williams signed a contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, the team announced Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Times-Picayune in New Orleans reported it was for one year with a team option for a second season.
The Pelicans are Williams' fourth organization since joining the NBA in 2016. He has also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and New York Knicks. The Knicks waived him July 16, making him a free agent.
The 6-foot-7 Williams averaged 7.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 17 games with the Knicks last season and then put up 11.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest in NBA Summer League action for New York before he was released.
