TinCaps fall in 10 to Whitecaps

Pitching on his 20th birthday, Logan Allen threw well but needed more run support.

The TinCaps lost 2-1 Tuesday night when West Michigan's Blaise Salter delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Salter's sixth-inning RBI single was all the Whitecaps (30-14) could muster against Allen, who went six innings and gave up five hits with six strikeouts.

Fort Wayne (17-28) has dropped the first two games of the four-game series at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan.

Marcus Greene Jr. finished 2 for 4 with an RBI double that gave the TinCaps the 1-0 lead in the fifth.

Blake Rogers (2-1) gave up Salter's game-winner while counterpart Jason Foley (3-0) turned in two shutout innings.

Before the game, the TinCaps placed relief pitcher Nick Monroe and outfielder Nate Easley on the seven-day disabled list.

In corresponding moves, reliever Jim McDade and utility man Tyler Selesky were sent to low-A Fort Wayne from extended spring training.
