Notebook: Buddy Reed to return Thursday
CHRIS GOFF | The Journal Gazette
Buddy Reed's flight was scheduled to land in Fort Wayne this afternoon, and at long last the TinCaps will have their starting center fielder back in uniform.
Manager Anthony Contreras said Reed, on the disabled list since April 28 because of a back injury, will be activated prior to Thursday night's game against Bowling Green at Parkview Field. Contreras wasn't immediately sure if he would write Reed's name in Thursday's lineup.
Tyler Selesky, who has been off and on Fort Wayne's roster throughout May, will come off again to clear a spot for Reed.
Good catch: Although the TinCaps lost 5-1 today to Bowling Green with Marcus Greene Jr. starting at catcher, the team's record remains better with Greene than Webster Rivas. Fort Wayne is 5-15 in games Rivas starts behind the plate compared with a more respectable 13-20 when Greene gets the call.
Dead spot: For those who root for the TinCaps, the time to look away from their games would be the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. In those three frames, Fort Wayne has been outscored this season by a whopping tally of 122-57.
