Game 89: TinCaps (37-51) vs. Lansing (43-41)
CHRIS GOFF | The Journal Gazette
It is overcast and drizzling in the Summit City. The forecast is dicey for today's 12:05 first pitch at Parkview Field as the TinCaps wrap up their four-game series with Lansing.
According to Weather.com, there is a 75 percent chance of rain in the noon hour, 90 percent in the 1 p.m. hour and 60 percent in the 2 p.m. hour. It reduces from there on out the rest of the afternoon.
Ironically, it's Splash Day, meaning fans were being encouraged to bring bathing suits to enjoy water guns and pools set up around the concourse and other water-themed promotions. The temperatures will be in the 70s.
The TinCaps are trying to win the series. The Lugnuts are looking to obtain a split. The past two games have been late-inning thrillers, with each side stealing a win from the other.
"If you're in Fort Wayne, come watch us," TinCaps first baseman G.K. Young said. "Quick turnaround. Got to get our butts back out here and play a game at 12."
The pitching matchup is Michel Baez against Andy Ravel. Among qualified pitchers, Ravel has the worst ERA in the Midwest League at 7.35, so this is certainly a game the TinCaps should win. The league is batting a whopping .346 against Ravel, so he essentially has turned every hitter into an All-Star.
