Game 118: TinCaps (57-60) vs. Bowling Green (60-54)

CHRIS GOFF | The Journal Gazette

Halfway through their four-game series, the TinCaps and Hot Rods are even at one win apiece. Bowling Green took the opener 5-2 on Thursday before Fort Wayne charged back Friday for a thrilling 8-7 win.

Tonight is Adrian Morejon's turn to pitch. He has yet to receive a decision since joining Fort Wayne. Last time out, Morjeon was removed after 5 2/3 innings in a 2-2 game at Great Lakes. He threw a pair of run-scoring wild pitches but gave up only three hits and struck out six batters. In his only other start as a TinCap, Morejon held Dayton to one run on five hits in five innings.

Bowling Green counters with Angel Yepez, who is 10-7 with a 2.68 ERA in a five-year professional career in the United States. Signed out of Venezuela, he tested positive for metabolites of Nandrolone in 2013, according to Major League Baseball, and was handed a 50-game suspension.

The biggest pregame news is that Marcus Greene Jr. landed on the disabled list, costing the TinCaps another of their top hitters just two days after Brad Zunica was announced as having a broken bone in his right foot. Greene is hitting .275 with 11 home runs and an .840 OPS.

Greene, a catcher, was unavailable Friday when two of the TinCaps' other catchers had to leave the game due to injuries. With low-A Fort Wayne in dire need of a healthy backstop, the San Diego Padres reshuffled their farm system today, sending Kyle Overstreet down from high-A Lake Elsinore.

Overstreet, 23, is a familiar face. He played in 11 games for the TinCaps last year, collecting eight hits in 30 at-bats.
