TinCaps power to doubleheader sweep

The TinCaps powered their way to a sweep of a doubleheader today, totaling 18 hits at Eastlake, Ohio, through an 8-1 victory that was followed by a 5-3 victory over the Lake County Captains.
The TinCaps totaled four home runs on the day, as Jorge Oña went over the wall in both games, while Hudson Potts and Kyle Overstreet also homered in the opener at Classic Park.
On the heels of a postponement because of inclement weather Tuesday, the TinCaps (37-22 in second half, 63-66 overall) snapped a three-game losing streak.
Reggie Lawson (4-6) pitched six of the first game’s seven innings, allowing one run and five hits, while striking out seven and walking one. G.K Young was 3 for 3 with a run. Nate Easley had a triple, extended his streak of consecutive games getting on base to 26.
Fort Wayne went up 4-0 in the second inning, when Buddy Reed’s ground-rule double brought in two runs, Gabriel Arias had an RBI groundout and Easley got his RBI triple. The TinCaps tacked on another three runs in the third inning.
In the second game, Fort Wayne recovered from a 2-0 first-inning deficit, as Potts and Overstreet were both 2 for 4 and combined for three doubles. Reliever Hansel Rodriguez (6-9) got the victory by pitching 1 2/3 innings and allowing no hits or runs, striking out two.
Tied at 2 in the third inning, Oña homered to left field, bringing in Jack Suwinski and Overstreet, for a 5-2 lead.
Oña is the sixth Fort Wayne player to reach double-digit figures in home runs this season.
Lake County (23-36, 50-78) got a home run from Logan Ice in the first game and homers from Li-Jen Chu and Jose Vincente in the second game, in front of 1,710 fans.
