TinCaps fall to Lake County

The TinCaps lost to the Lake County Captains 2-1 on Thursday night at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio, but still took two out of three in the series.

TinCaps first baseman Kyle Overstreet continued his hot start with Fort Wayne (37-23 second half, 63-67), hitting an opposite-field home run to right field to put the TinCaps up 1-0 in the second inning. It was the second homer for Overstreet in as many days and extended his on-base streak to 12 games since joining the TinCaps.

Fort Wayne starter Adrian Morejon (1-1) took the loss, giving up two runs and four hits in four-plus innings. He walked three batters and struck out two. Reliever Will Headean retired all nine batters he faced in three innings, striking out four. Jose Galindo pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the TinCaps with two strikeouts.

The TinCaps' Nate Easley had a 26-game on-base streak end, going 0 for 4. The streak is the 10th longest on-base streak in the Midwest League this season and the second longest for a TinCaps player behind Jorge Oña's 28-straight game streak earlier this season.

Lake County (24-36, 51-78) took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Alexis Pantoja hit a two-run home run to give the Captains a 2-1 lead. The homer was one of only four hits allowed by Fort Wayne.

Lake County reliever Justin Garza (4-6) gave up just one hit, getting six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
