Lugnuts pull away from TinCaps
The TinCaps' Hudson Potts and Jorge Oña each picked up a pair of hits Sunday in Fort Wayne's 5-1 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts 5-1 at Cooley Law School Stadium in Lansing, Michigan.
Potts and Oña have 31 multi-hit games this season, trailing only Fernando Tatis Jr., who had 35 multi-hit games before being promoted to Double-A San Antonio last week.
Fort Wayne (39-24 second half, 65-68) took the lead in the top of the fourth inning on Oña's RBI single to center field, scoring Potts for a 1-0 TinCaps edge.
Lansing (23-40, 60-69) got a double from Kevin Vicuña to score two runners and give Lansing a 2-1 lead. The Lugnuts added to their lead in the sixth, scoring three times for a 5-1 advantage.
TinCaps starter Osvaldo Hernandez (0-2) struggled in his final two innings and allowed eight hits and four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings and struck out six batters.
Lansing's Juliandry Higuera (4-0) allowed an unearned run in five innings of work, striking out five without walking a batter.
