Game 2: TinCaps (0-1) vs. Quad Cities (1-0)

CHRIS GOFF | The Journal Gazette

Needing a win tonight to even the Midwest League Championship Series at a game apiece, manager Anthony Contreras has stacked the TinCaps' lineup with righties, because Patrick Sandoval, Quad Cities' starter, is a lefty.

That is why Brad Zunica isn't starting, although it's unclear why Marcus Greene Jr. is also on the bench for Game 2. Greene went 0 for 4 on Wednesday. He popped out to end the first inning, left the bases loaded in the third, flew out in the sixth with a man on and struck out leading off the eighth as Fort Wayne went on to lose to the River Bandits 6-3.

Lake Bachar is on the mound tonight for the TinCaps. He hasn't pitched since Sept. 3. The question, of course, is how much rust Bachar will have accumulated in the 10 days since his last start. On the other hand, perhaps he will feel stronger with the extra rest.

Here's Fort Wayne's lineup:

Jack Suwinski RF

Nate Easley LF

Hudson Potts 3B

Kyle Overstreet 1B

Jorge Oña DH

Gabriel Arias SS

Buddy Reed CF

Justin Lopez 2B

A.J. Kennedy C

Overstreet: Notice it's Overstreet in the cleanup spot. He's gone 4 for 7 this postseason.

Here's Quad Cities' lineup:

Chas McCormick CF

Colin Moran DH

Troy Sieber 1B

Chuckie Robinson C

Abraham Toro 2B

Josh Rojas RF

J.J. Matijevic LF

Wander Franco 3B

Kristian Trompiz SS

Scouting Sandoval: Among three Single-A levels, Sandoval went 3-4 with a 4.09 ERA in 14 appearances, including 11 starts. None of the TinCaps' hitters have ever faced Sandoval, who has a four-pitch arsenal (fastball, change, curve, slider) and struck out 48 batters in 40 regular-season innings with Quad Cities.
