Great Lakes dumps TinCaps

MIDLAND, Mich. – Brandon Montgomery hit a two-run home run and had two hits, driving in three, as the Great Lakes Loons exploded for a season-high four home runs in an 8-3 win over the TinCaps on Wednesday.

Trailing 1-0, the Loons (5-12) took the lead for good in the second inning when Montgomery homered to bring home Carlos Rincon.

The Loons later added four runs in the fourth and two in the seventh. In the fourth, Garrett Hope hit a three-run home run, while Starling Heredia and Nick Yarnall hit solo home runs in the seventh.

Devin Hemmerich (1-1) got the win with three innings of scoreless relief while Fort Wayne starter Mason Thompson (1-3) took the loss as the TinCaps fell to 7-13.
