Aldemar Burgos joins TinCaps from Tri-City

Elizabeth Wyman | The Journal Gazette

The TinCaps announced Tuesday that outfielder Aldemar Burgos has been transferred to Fort Wayne from the short-season Tri-City.

A product of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, the 21-year-old was drafted by the Padres in the 8th round in 2015. At Tri-City, Burgos hit .257 with a .336 on-base percentage and six doubles, three triples, two home runs, and 14 RBI in 30 games.

Burgos could definitely help Fort Wayne in the outfield as the TinCaps also announced Tuesday that right fielder Tirso Ornelas was put on the seven-day disabled list with a wrist injury, effective July 20.

This season, Ornelas has a .252 batting average, .341 on-base percentage and 40 RBI in 86 games.
