TinCaps release 2019 schedule
DYLAN SINN | The Journal Gazette
With barely 2 1/2 weeks remaining in the 2018 season, the TinCaps have released their full schedule for 2019. The schedule release does not include promotional dates, which will be released at a later date.
The TinCaps open their 2019 campaign on April 4-5 with two home games against the Lansing Lugnuts. Opening Night, April 4, will be the first of 12 Thirsty Thursday games on the schedule. Their longest homestand of the season is an eight-game stretch in mid-May, when they'll take on Lansing for four games and South Bend for another four.
"This is an exciting end to the 2018 season for us as we hit the 4-million fan milestone at Parkview Field (Thursday) in year number 10, and now the team has a great chance to make the playoffs for the ninth time in 10 years,” team president Mike Nutter said in a statement. “But looking ahead, we’ll be determined to make 2019 even better than this season.”
The team, as usual, is scheduled to play 70 home games and plans to have fireworks after 30 of them. For the 11th consecutive season, the TinCaps will play at home on Fourth of July, taking on the Lake County Captains at 6:05 p.m. This year on Fourth of July, TinCaps left-hander MacKenzie Gore earned his first professional win as the team blanked Great Lakes 7-0.
Fort Wayne closes the season with a six-game homestand, finishing with three games against Lansing from Aug. 31-Sept. 2.
