Siebenaler back to Cleveland
JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette
Fort Wayne-native Blake Siebenaler is going to have to wait for his regular-season NHL debut.
The defenseman, who was a third round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2014, was sent down to the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters, for whom he accrued three goals, six points, 10 penalty minutes and a minus-14 rating in 43 games last season.
Siebenaler was the first player to cultivate his game in Fort Wayne and be drafted by an NHL team, though others born in the area accomplished the feat (Dale Purinton and Drake Batherson are sons of Komets player).
Wolcottville’s Karch Bachman was a fifth-round pick of the Florida Panthers in 2015 and plays for Miami (Ohio).
