K's ready for Military Appreciation games

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

The Komets will celebrate Military Appreciation Weekend at their games Friday and Saturday, against Adirondack and Quad City, by wearing special jerseys that will auctioned off to benefit Honor Flight.

Fans are encouraged to bring donations for the 10th year of Komets Kare Package to benefit the Northern Indiana Veterans Administration Health System, which serves more than 45,000 veterans.

A list of items requested is at www.komets.com.

Items they have asked for include: gift certificates, games, toys, magazines, personal toiletries, coloring books, caps, gloves, blankets, cleaning supplies, T-shirts and underwear.

Some food items will also be accepted, including spaghetti sauce, pasta, chili, fruit, tuna, mixed vegetables, hamburger helper, pudding packs, cereal, oatmeal and breakfast bars.

Monetary donations will also be accepted.

If you can’t make it to the games and want to donate, you may do so Friday at the Federal Express Shipping Center at 3620 Independence Dr.
