K's need to solve Wings

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

The Komets have lost 4 of 5 games this season to the Kalamazoo Wings, the team they face tonight at Memorial Coliseum, and that’s alarming because it’s usually a much more even series.

Over the last five seasons, the Komets have a 25-23-3 record against the Wings.

But here’s the bigger thing: The Komets and Wings could very well meet in the playoffs, though it would most likely happen in the second round since Fort Wayne is in second place in the division and Kalamazoo is tied for fourth.

It’s looking more and more unlikely that the Komets can catch Toledo, so that would put them in a more likely first-round playoff matchup with Cincinnati. And that’s another team that’s given the Komets fits.

Food for thought.
