News on Komets front

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

LOVELAND, Colorado – It sounds as if Kevin McKernan will be in the Komets’ lineup for Ryan Culkin, who looked pretty beat up after the 3-2 Game 6 victory.

Not sure yet if Dennis Kravchenko is in but I believe he will be in place of Artur Tyanulin for tonight’s Game 7.

Komets goalie Michael Houser hasn’t played in a Game 7 since juniors.

Big news elsewhere:

  • Former Komets player Leo Thomas has been hired as head coach of Macon in the Southern Professional Hockey League. That makes him the first black coach in the league’s history and the only current one in North American pro hockey.
  • Former Komet Kevin Kerr has been hired by Greenville of the ECHL to replace Brian Gratz, a native of Fort Wayne.
  • Quad City joined the SPHL.
