It never ceases to amaze me how all of the hockey world seems tied to the Komets. Wherever I go, there is someone who is a fan of the K's. Pick about any hockey organization on the planet, and it often seems there's someone who has played or coached for the fireballers.
My latest example.
My nephew, Remy, who is in California, and who has the skill of Xavier Laflamme and the grit of Cody Sol, happened to be at a shooting clinic in Livermore and who's running the show? Tom Nelson.
He was a heck of a player with the Komets in 2004-05, totaling 18 goals and 56 points in 70 games, then adding two goals and nine points in seven playoff games. My brother reports he's still in excellent shape and was "ripping" pucks out there.
By the way, love that Tommy is rocking the Minnesota-Duluth gear; he racked up 16 goals and 41 points in 38 games for them as a junior in 2000-01.
Oh, and I'm told he does indeed remember yours truly. Yes!
