Signs still point toward K's, Vegas marriage

Komets general manager David Franke confirmed today that the negotiations with the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, who reached the Stanley Cup Finals this year, are progressing toward an affiliation for the coming season.

“It’s definitely headed in the right direction and we continue to work with them. I really think something is going to really happen. I’m very positive about that, more positive than I’ve been, but we’re just working through some stuff and that’s about it right now,” said Franke, whose Komets were aligned last season with the Arizona Coyotes, now affiliated with the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals.

Were an affiliation with the Golden Knights to be finalized, it would likely happen next week.

It would also likely take a return of goalie Michael Houser out of the picture, since Vegas would want to put a netminder in Fort Wayne, which already has Lukas Hafner and Kyle Hayton on board.
