Defenseman Cescon re-joins Komets

The Komets added size and a physical presence to the defense with the addition of veteran defenseman Craig Cescon. Cescon, 32, signed an ECHL standard player contract Wednesday and was added to the Fort Wayne roster.

The Mississauga, Ontario, native played his first two pro seasons with Idaho before joining current Komet assistant coach Ben Boudreau and captain Jamie Schaafsma with the Flint Generals in the IHL in 2009-10. Cescon capped his third pro year facing the Komets in the Turner Cup finals, losing to Fort Wayne four games to one. Cescon joined the Komets the following season for Fort Wayne's inaugural season in the Central Hockey League appearing in 60 games and leading with 174 penalty minutes. Cescon was named Fort Wayne's Unsung Hero prior to finishing the season appearing in all eight playoff games.

In 2011-12 the 6-foot-2, 202-pounder remained in the CHL leading Bloomington with 180 penalty minutes in 64 games before making his European debut with Braehead in the Elite Ice Hockey League and winning the EIHL Gardiner Conference Championship in 2012-13. Cescon added another CHL campaign to his career in 2013-14 skating 66 games with Tulsa before returning to Europe for 52 EIHL games with Coventry in 2014-15. He helped Morzine-Avoriaz win the EIHL playoff championship in 2016 and logged two additional seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18) in the EIHL with Dundee and Braehead before returning stateside for 2018-19 and his 12th pro season.

In additional player movement, the Komets announced today that forward Jordan Sims has been placed on the injured reserve list and joins Aidan Muir (F), Chris Rygus (D) and Cody Sol (D).
