Video: Wild embellishment call on K's

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

Of course, we have to remember that the ECHL is a developmental league for the referees and linesmen as much as the players. However, sometimes you see a call that's just so befuddling it has to be pointed out as much as any goal or assist made by the players.

Case in point is above: The penalty for embellishment on Shawn Szydlowski of the Komets on Wednesday that was made by referee Alex Normandin.

Normally, I'm pleased to see a referee call embellishment (or diving) but you'd better be pretty sure, especially in a game that was tied at 3 with huge stakes. He also called the tripping on Indy's Radovan Bondra on the same play, in a game the Fuel won 5-3.

Bondra is a player who makes some dangerous plays and this was one of them.
