Readying for K's vs. Brampton

Justin A. Cohn | The Journal Gazette

The Komets have two of the hottest players in the ECHL right now -- Mike Cazzola has six goals and 10 points in the last four games; Shawn Szydlowski has six goals and 20 points in the last 10 games -- but if others start picking it up offensively then the Komets could be really scary.

Mike Embach broke out of his slump with a goal in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over Quad City. Brady Vail has been scoring every game since coming back from the American Hockey League.

Tonight, the Komets play host to the Brampton Beast at Memorial Coliseum. It will be a big test for the Komets (7-2-1) since Brampton (15-8-3) is one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. It would be an understatement to say the Beast is improved in Colin Chaulk's second season as coach.

The Komets continue to work on their play with leads. Even Wednesday, things became too interesting when Chris Francis scored for the Mallards in the waning minutes. The Komets need to start making smarter plays with the puck late and not take icings by going for an empty net.
