Josh Barajas leaves Irish for Illinois State

Linebacker Josh Barajas, who played in nine games for Notre Dame as a freshman in 2016, has transferred to Illinois State.
"He was a very good player coming out of high school and landed at Notre Dame but felt he needed a new start," Illinois State coach Brock Spack said in a statement issued Wednesday by the school. "We felt he would be a great fit for our system."
Barajas, a Valparaiso native, was a Class 3A all-state player in 2014. He arrived in South Bend in 2015 but redshirted that season and was relegated to a backup role in 2016.
