Irish add receiver, lose backup center
CHRIS GOFF | The Journal Gazette
Notre Dame's offseason roster shuffle continued Monday with the addition of wide receiver Cameron Smith and the departure of offensive lineman Tristen Hoge.
Smith, who played three seasons at Arizona State, will be immediately eligible with the Irish because the Texas native is a graduate transfer. Smith had 60 catches for 908 yards and six touchdowns during his time with the Sun Devils.
Hoge, who had been slated to be Notre Dame's backup center this fall, transferred to BYU for his final three seasons of eligibility. Hoge played in six games for the Irish in 2016 and was the 2015 Notre Dame Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year.
