Irish remain 3rd in CFP committee rankings
CHRIS GOFF | The Journal Gazette
The second batch of rankings from the College Football Playoff selection committee is in, and Notre Dame remains right where it began last week -- in the No. 3 spot.
There was some concern heading into Tuesday night that Clemson might jump the Irish, with the committee using the rationale that the Tigers' victory over North Carolina State did more for their credentials than Notre Dame's home win over Wake Forest.
Clearly the 13-person committee believes, of all the one-loss teams, Notre Dame still has the best overall résumé, with four wins over teams ranked by the CFP committee (No. 1 Georgia, No. 11 Southern California, No. 12 Michigan State and No. 23 N.C. State).
The top two stayed the same, Georgia and Alabama, with Clemson fourth, Oklahoma fifth, TCU sixth and Notre Dame's next opponent, Miami, seventh.
