Top offensive lineman commits to Notre Dame

DYLAN SINN | The Journal Gazette

Notre Dame continued its string of recruiting successes in recent weeks Tuesday night when 2019 offensive lineman Quinn Carroll announced he'd chosen to play for the Irish.

The four-star lineman picked Notre Dame over Ohio State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He becomes the highest-ranked member of the Irish's nine-player recruiting class in 2019, as ranks him the No. 12 offensive lineman in the country and the No. 87 prospect overall.

The 6-foot-6 Minnesota native becomes the third offensive lineman in Notre Dame's recruiting class, joining four-star John Olmstead and three-star Andrew Kristofic, both of whom committed last week. With Carroll's commitment, the Irish rise to No. 11 in 24/7's national class rankings.

Carroll originally got an offer from the Irish in May 2017 and visited South Bend when Notre Dame beat USC last October. He was also at the Blue-Gold Game on April 21. He is the highest-rated offensive line recruit to sign with Notre Dame since Quenton Nelson in 2014, per Rivals' ratings. Nelson was selected No. 6 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL Draft Thursday.
