Irish announce 2 more signings; McGovern to transfer
Chris Goff | The Journal Gazette
As Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly conducted his news conference on National Signing Day, there were a pair of interruptions. Each time he stepped away from the podium, and each time he returned to announce another recruit had been signed.
Three-star prospect Kofi Wardlow (a defensive end from Saint John's College High School in Washington D.C.) and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (a defensive player, given three stars by most recruiting services, from Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia) were the new additions that push the Irish's 2017 class to 21 names.
Also, Kelly revealed a pair of departures from the existing roster. Colin McGovern, who was the starting right guard for much of 2016 but lost the job late in the year, is transferring. Backup tight end Jacob Matuska, meanwhile, has decided to end his playing career.
